Fabio Paratici given green light to beat Arsenal to sign Tottenham’s £30m target

Renato Sanches is once again being chased by the world’s elite clubs after a difficult time in his career and Tottenham may now have a chance to sign the midfielder.

The 2016 Golden Boy winner never adapted to life in Germany after leaving Benfica for Bayern Munich and even being loaned out to Swansea City in 2017.

But now four years older, he appears to be starting to fulfill his promise once again after moving to Lille in 2019.

A number of exciting performances for Portugal at Euro 2020 brought him to the attention of some of Europe’s elite teams once again with the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool reportedly considering a move.

Tottenham and Arsenal are the other two clubs reportedly monitoring the situation, with Nuno Espirito Santo looking to bring his compatriot to the Whites in north London.

Following some recent comments from Lille president Olivier Letang, Spurs director of football Fabio Paratici appears to have been given the green light to once again plot a move for the 24-year-old.

“I’ve discussed this with him. If an offer from a big club comes along, Renato will be able to leave. We’ll see what happens,” Letang told BFM Lille, via FourFourTwo.

In the summer, the 2020-21 Ligue 1 champions reportedly demanded €35m (£29.8m) for his services and it will be interesting to see if that’s a figure Spurs are willing to match.

A big annoyance for many Tottenham fans this season has been the lack of creativity that has come from the team’s midfield, often leaving Harry Kane very isolated or falling too deep to try and influence play.

The arrival of Sanches could go a long way towards solving that problem with the added bonus of beating their arch-rivals into players as well.
