Harry Kane’s brutal claim made amid Romelu Lukaku comparisons after Tottenham lost to Chelsea

Jamie O’Hara has admitted that he would rather watch Tottenham without Harry Kane in the side this season.

Spurs got off to a great start having won their opening three Premier League games 1-0 apiece against Manchester City, Wolves and Watford.

Kane missed the first of those three games and only came off the bench against Wolves as Nuno Espirito Santo set up with a slightly more dynamic front three in Steven Bergwijn, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura.

Since re-entering the starting XI, Spurs have beaten Watford but have also lost convincingly to Crystal Palace and Chelsea in their last two outings.

O’Hara explains why he thinks Spurs are more interesting to watch without Kane in the team.

“In my opinion, I look at his body language and I see the way he is playing at the moment” [and] he’s not playing well,” the former Spurs midfielder told talkSPORT.

“I kind of enjoyed Spurs at the start of the season when he wasn’t playing, and I know that sounds bad because he’s a great player and he’s someone you need in your team, but he came back into the team and we couldn’t win.

“When Bergwijn, Son and Moura are up front, we sit down, we calm down, we absorb the pressure and then we attack the team on the counter-attack.

“Harry Kane is back in the team and he’s sitting so deep, he’s trying to do everything. Some parts of the game he’s played holding the midfield.”

O’Hara went on to compare Kane to Romelu Lukaku, who had played further forward, holding the ball and letting midfielders run behind him.

“Just look at Lukaku, he leads the line as you would expect your No.9 to lead the line,” he added.

“We have one of the best strikers in the world but I just feel like he’s trying to do everything rather than just focus on where we need to be on the pitch.”

Kane will look to turn things around in the Carabao Cup against Wolves this week before the north London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Liverpool striker Divock Origi has emerged as a potential target for French club Lens, according to Fichajes.

  • The Belgium international is expected to leave the Reds over the summer, but there are no realistic offers on the table.

However, he could move on in the New Year as his existing contract with the club expires at the end of the season.

Contract talks are not possible at this point. The Reds were willing to let him go rather than lose him for no reason.

Lens is very good after Ligue 1 promotion last season. They finished seventh. The club has made another positive start to the season.

They have registered 12 points from six games, and are looking to step up their attack mid-season.

The Reds want around €20m for Origi this summer, but they may have to accept a much lower price in January.

The club had a center forward position with Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino and could afford to lose Origi.
